This past month our students created their own Student Newspaper Club. We are incredibly proud of the dedication and effort they put into the Newspaper. We are featuring different articles from the Newspaper on our Blog. Below is Scott Lyu’s tips for taking AP Tests. Scott did a great job, we cannot wait to see what is to come in the next Student Newspaper.
Preparing to Take AP Tests
By Scott Lyu
Students are very concerned about the AP Tests. Follow the below tips for stress-free test taking.
- To begin with, don’t study blindly. Look for an official description of the areas to be covered on the AP test, the test format (such as the types of questions to be asked), and the test time schedule. Much of this information is available online. The official website that offers archived AP exams is https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/home?navid=gh-aps Another website that offers actual AP exams to review is http://www.collegetic.com/released-ap-exams/ take your time and find where to start. Taking a tutoring course can help you find where to start. However, if finding where to start troubles you, I would suggest taking a tutoring course. Tutors can help students discover the relatively weak parts of their performance that need to be improved upon. What’s next is to study in advance. Do not cram before the test. Take it easy, schedule your study plan and prepare for your studying. Cramming before the AP test will make you anxious and overwhelmed. Students cannot learn much in such a short time, and will miss some key information. Creating a study plan is necessary.
- Studying in group will also help. You can share knowledge with others, understand what you might not know and help others to gain what they need to know. This will create a win-win situation, which is a very efficient way for us to study.
- Finally, stay calm and get a good rest the night before the exam. Keeping your body in good condition is also a key in proper preparation for the test. Do not hurry, but get up early and enjoy your breakfast as usual. After getting enough rest and preparing well, you will take the test with confidence.
