Athletics at Squaw Valley Academy Bay Area

At Squaw Valley Academy and Squaw Valley Academy Bay Area, the mission of the our Athletics program is to enrich the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of all student-athletes by providing equal opportunities for competition in which the lifelong values of sportsmanship, individual effort, teamwork, integrity, commitment, and self-discipline are emphasized throughout the sports season.

Athletics and physical activity are an essential part of any complete educational program. In recent years, there have been numerous studies demonstrating that physical fitness has a profoundly positive impact on mental acuity and the ability to learn.

At our main campus, Squaw Valley Academy located near Lake Tahoe, our students indulge in a wide variety of sporting activities throughout the year. During the fall semester, students take part in hiking, fishing, biking, skateboarding, rock climbing, swimming, weightlifting, and countless other physical activities. Additionally, the Squaw Valley Academy Soccer Team holds its league season during the fall. Additional organized sports include ice hockey and basketball during the winter, and club soccer during the spring semester.

With an Olympic-level ski resort just minutes from our Tahoe campus, Squaw Valley Academy students may ski or snowboard seven days a week during winter months. The entire school enjoys the slopes on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the winter. As long as students maintain academic and behavioral standards, they are encouraged to engage in daily athletics of their choosing.

At Squaw Valley Academy Bay Area, we are endowed with both an inspiring environment and a climate that allows us to indulge in a wide variety of sporting activities throughout the year. Given that we are a new school, we will not offer organized team sports in our first semester, but our Athletics Department staff is working hard to create a rewarding and exciting competitive team sports program.

Just like at our main campus in Lake Tahoe, our students will take part in hiking, biking, skateboarding, rock climbing, swimming, weightlifting, and countless other physical activities.  Our campus has a fully equipped Yoga studio and weight room so students can stay limber and toned while on campus. Students can also enjoy outdoor sports at Blank Park, which is a short walk from campus.
