With Spring Break right around the corner, here at Squaw Valley Academy Bay Area we put together a list of the Top 10 Spring Break Activities for high school students. It is important to have fun during Spring Break, but be sure to get some rest and prepare yourself before returning to class.
1. Local Community
Spring Break is an excellent time to see what is going on in your town. Livermore has a variety of fun activities within its thriving downtown area. Check out the Livermore Parks Group if you’re interested in hikes and visits to beautiful parks. The neighboring cities of Pleasanton and Dublin also have many outdoor concerts, fabulous restaurants and great shopping.
2. See a Movie
Go see one of the latest movies. Spring Break is a perfect time to gather your friends and see an inexpensive matinee at the local theater.
3. The Great Outdoors
Take advantage of the sunny skies and head out for a fun adventure. Whether it is hiking Mt. Diablo, or taking a walk around the neighborhood. You are bound to find a unique trail or picturesque view.
4. Become a Chef for a day
Choosing a recipe from a cookbook, or visit Pinterest and discover recipes. Invite friends over and work together to make a delicious meal, snack or treat. Squaw Valley Academy Bay Area has a pinterest board dedicated to healthy recipes for students, check it out.
5. Tidy Up
Spring Break is the perfect time to go through your belongings and have a “Spring Cleaning”. Marie Kondo’s book titled, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up is sure to give you all the inspiration you need to organize and clean out your room.
6. Time to Swim
Gather your friends and head to the neighborhood pool. Be sure to wear sun-block. Enjoy soaking up some rays and work on your underwater hand-stand. Make it an even better pool day by barbecuing up a delicious lunch or dinner. Dublin, California recently opened a new water park just minutes from campus; The Wave has already become a big hit amongst students.
7. Shop Local
Head to the downtown area of your city or town. Support local business and check out trendy boutiques. Don’t forget to stop at the “ma and pa” frozen yogurt or ice cream shop and enjoy a yummy treat.
8. Visit Colleges
Exploring a local college is a great way to get a feel of the school and see if it aligns with your interests. It will also get you inspired to head back to school after Spring Break. 9. Dive into a Good Book
Wish you were on a tropical island, Disneyland or the beach? Reading a book can take you there! Escape from the day for a bit and get lost in a good book.
10. Be Creative
With the extra free-time during Spring Break take the opportunity to jump into a creative project. Paint that picture you’ve always wanted to paint, practice coding and try coding your own website, bring out the chalk and make some sidewalk art in your neighborhood. The creative opportunities are endless!
